Deck'n'po
A downloadable game
Deck'n'po is a reimagination of the classic game of Jokenpo (Rock-Paper-Scissors) using a deck of cards for quick rounds between two players.
It was made for games that requires an intransitive mechanic but with more degrees of freedom than what the original rock-paper-scissors game could offer. Some of the abstractions this new mechanic allows are:
- More than 3 elements without needing to name or theme each one—each element is simply represented by a number.
- No need for a matchup table—just follow one consistent set of rules.
- An even numbers of elements are possible while still keeping the game balanced.
And it still maintains some properties of the original game such as:
- The more elements a game has, the less likely it is to tie.
- All elements tend to win 50% of the time and lose 50% of the time
- Luck based
It can still be played with just your fingers, making it great for practicing small additions in a fun way.
Trying to code this game turned out to be a nice coding exercise.
